Hunting Gear Guide: Hunting Ethics

Hunting is a sport that goes beyond the hunting gear and hunting supplies. Yes, we acknowledge that hunting gear is indeed important and necessary, but they are not all it takes to make a good hunter. Other factors also have to come into play. One thing every hunter has to know, learn and be aware about are the right hunting ethics. Yes, there is a certain decorum expected of hunters, and if you want to continue hunting, you need to know it too. There are so many little riles and regulations, but we thought we would start with the most practical ones, and the ones you really need to master first. Here they are!

1. Respect the landowner’s wishes- These days, hunting grounds become more and more limited. It becomes much of a challenge to find excellent hunting grounds. When you do find it, always remember to respect the landowner’s rules and requests. After all, you have been given the privilege to hunt on his property. As long as you respect the place, the owner, and other hunters do the same, he will continue to keep his land open for hunting.

2. Respect your hunting neighbors- Your hunting neighbors may come in different forms. It may be the hunters who are hunting nearby, or the farm that is located near your hunting grounds. It can even be the hunters who will hunt after you. Whoever your neighbor is, respect is still key. Don’t do anything that you do not want done to you. Keep places neat, tidy and free of trash and litter. Don’t make too much noise and be boisterous. Do that and are bound to get the same good treatment in return.

3. Track an animal properly- Let’s assume that you’ve shot at an animal, but you’re not quite sure if you hit it or it has gone down. Near the area, you find some blood, but you’re not quite sure if it really is blood. To find out, you can use some peroxide. If you pour peroxide on it and it foams, then that is indeed blood. Then, the next thing you have to do is follow that trail. What happens is you don’t end up wasting the animal.
Hunting ethics are so important so that there are no fights, quarrels or squabbles. Do take note of them and follow them!
